Chairman Danny Wheeler and Chief Armand P. La Barge will present a Police Services Board commendation to Police Constable John Dukovic for his heroic actions that saved the life of an elderly female by rescuing her from an apartment building that was on fire on December 11, 2007.

Municipal Fortification By-law

RECOMMENDATION

1.            That the Board endorse efforts by York Regional Police and York Region staff to encourage all area municipalities within York Region to adopt a uniform fortification bylaw, and to establish best practices for the application of such a bylaw across the Region.

Donations in Excess of $5,000

RECOMMENDATION

1.              That the Board approve the donation of 5,000 coupons from Mac’s Milk Convenience Stores for a total value of $8,450, pursuant to Police Services Board Public Donations Policy No. 02/01.

Extension of the Safer Communities – 1,000 Officer Policing Partnership Grant

RECOMMENDATIONS

1.             That the Board approve the 2 year extension of the Provincial Safer Communities – 1,000 Officer Policing Partnership (SC-TOPP) Grant Program from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services; and

2.             That the Chairman be authorized to execute the agreement on behalf of the Board, subject to approval of the Region’s Legal Services as to form and content; and

3.           That the Board forward the agreement to The Regional Municipality of York requesting a resolution of Council authorizing the Region of York to enter into this agreement with the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.

Sole Source Renewal of EJust Systems Inc.

Subscription and Support Contract

RECOMMENDATIONS

1.              That the Board authorize entering into a three-year Subscription Maintenance and Support Contract with EJust Systems Inc. effective July 1, 2008, at a value not to exceed $389,850 inclusive of GST and PST; and

2.              That the Chief be authorized to execute the contract with EJust Systems Inc., subject to approval of the Region’s Legal Services as to form and content.
