RECOMMENDATION
- That the Board receive this report pursuant to Public Donations Board Policy No. 02/01.
SYNOPSIS
In 2007, the total value of donations received by York Regional Police was $24,752.75, comprised of $2,317.75 in cash and $22,435.00 in non-cash donations. In accordance with Public Donations Board Policy No. 02/01, all donations over $5,000 received prior Board approval and prior Chief approval was granted for donations under $5,000.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS
In 2007, $24,752.75 worth of donations was received by York Regional Police, comprised of $2,317.75 in cash and $22,435.00 in non-cash donations. The monies received were deposited into the Operating Budget account.
BACKGROUND
The Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board Policy No. 02/01 in relation to Public Donations requires the submission of an annual report outlining donations received by York Regional Police.
The York Regional Police Solicitations and Disclosures Procedure requires that all proposals for donations to York Regional Police be documented on a Solicitation & Donation Information Form (YRP 360). The policy also specifies that York Regional Police shall not receive public donations less than $5,000 without prior approval from the Chief of Police or designate and donations over $5,000 require prior Board approval.
During 2007, four cash donations totaling $2,317.75 and seven non-cash donations with an estimated value of $22,435.00 were received by York Regional Police. Approval was received from the Police Services Board for the donation from McDonald's Restaurant for $11,070 and Mac's Milk for $5,070 at the August 29, 2007 meeting. Prior approval from the Chief was received for all donations less than $5,000. The following chart highlights the donations received by York Regional Police in 2007.
