Mrs. Barbara Bartlett - Regional Council Appointee
Regional Council appointed Mrs. Barbara Bartlett of the Town of Newmarket as a citizen member to the Police Services Board effective July 1, 2008. She will serve until November 30, 2010, or until her successor is appointed. Since April 1995, Mrs. Bartlett has been the General Manager of the Best Western Voyageur Place Hotel in Newmarket. A prominent business leader in the community, with a background in marketing and journalism, Mrs. Barbara-Ann Bartlett was Chair of the Best Western Ontario-Quebec Hotels CO-OP for five years, Chair of the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce for four years and Chair of York Region Tourism for three years. Currently, she is an active Member of both the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce and the Advisory Board of Smart Commute: Central York. Mrs. Barbara Bartlett is keen to make a difference in the quality of life of citizens. She has enjoyed long-standing leadership positions with many community agencies. For 10 years, she served as President of the Community Living Newmarket/Aurora and District Board and as a Member of the agency's Provincial Board for eight years. Mrs. Bartlett's other favourite charitable causes included the Girl Guides, the United Way, Pallcare Network of York Region and "Make a Child Smile" Toy Drive. In appreciation of her dedication to community service, the United Way of York Region awarded Mrs. Bartlett the 2004 Volunteer Award and Community Living Newmarket/Aurora awarded her the 2008 Excellence in Community Service Award. |
