Mr. Bill Fisch, B. Comm., L.L.B. - Regional Chairman & C.E.O. - Regional Council Appointee
Mr. Bill Fisch, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for The Regional Municipality of York, was first appointed by York Regional Council to the Police Services Board in 1995. He served as Vice-Chairman of the Board from 1996 to 1997. Mr. Fisch was elected Chairman of The Regional Municipality of York in 1997 and acclaimed as Chairman in 2000, 2003 and 2006. Since 1997, Mr. Fisch has been an ex-officio member of all Regional Committees. He is Chair, Rapid Transit Board, and a member of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority. Prior to being elected Chairman, Mr. Fisch practised law in Scarborough and Thornhill for over 20 years. Elected three times to represent Markham residents at Town of Markham Council and York Regional Council, Mr. Fisch holds a L.L.B. degree from Osgoode Hall Law School (1974) and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Queen's University (1971). Mr. Fisch hosted the Annual Chairman's Charity Classic Golf Tournament for many years followed in 2009 with the inaugural Chairman Dinner for the Arts event. He is an enthusiastic supporter of the Children's Safety Village of York Region, the Richmond Hill Crosby Park for the disabled, the Alzheimer's Society of York Region, Ontario Special Olympics, York Region Abuse Program, Hill House Hospice and Sport for Kids Foundation. Mr. Fisch chaired the York Region United Way Building Industry Luncheon in 2007, 2006, 2002 and 1999. |
