Mayor Frank Scarpitti - Regional Council Appointee
Mr. Frank Scarpitti was elected Mayor of Markham in 2006 for a four-year term. He is an ex officio member of all Town Committees and also serves on York Regional Council. Regional Council appointed Mayor Frank Scarpitti to the Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board effective May 25, 2007. Mr. Frank Scarpitti was first elected as Regional Councillor for Markham in 1985. He was re-elected in 1988, 1997, 2000, 2003 and in 1991 as Deputy Mayor. At the Regional level, he has served as Chair of the York Regional Planning and Economic Development Committee, Chair of York Region Inclusivity Action Plan, and as a member of the Transit Committee and Solid Waste Committee. He has served on the Boards of the Markham Theatre, Rouge Park Alliance, and Markham Stouffville Hospital and is currently Vice-Chair of PowerStream. He is Honourary Chair of the Markhaven Fundraising Golf Tournament, the Rotary Club Fundraising Golf Tournament, Cancer Relay for Life and DREAMS Inc. and is an Honourary Patron of Social Services Network. In addition, Mayor Scarpitti serves on many other community boards. Mayor Frank Scarpitti has been a resident of Markham for 42 years and is married with three children. |
