2016 Police Annual Report
The Board received the 2016 York Regional Police Annual Report. The Annual Report profiles the activities of the York Regional Police from the previous year. It includes the cost of policing in York Region, public complaints, a summary of high-profile investigations, information on community engagement and crime prevention programs, statistical information and the 2016 Business Plan accomplishments. A copy will be available on the Board’s website in the coming weeks.
Changes to Service Fees and Charges
The Board approved changes to the Service Fees and Charges Schedule for a number of services including Clearance Letters, Pardon Applications, Fingerprints, General Occurrence Reports, False Alarm and Cancelled False Alarms among others. The Schedule also introduces a new service fee for Marine Tow requests. The changes will be effective as of September 1, 2017.
Appointment of New Police Officers
The Board hired 30 new police officers who will begin their Basic Constable Training at the Ontario Police College in September. The officers are well-educated and include representation from diverse communities. York Regional Police is comprised of over 2,200 police and civilian members.
Future ACES Golf Tournament
The Board approved sponsorship of the Annual Herbert Carnegie Future Aces Charity Golf Tournament to be held on July 24, 2017. The Future Aces Foundation is committed to fostering self-esteem and ethical behaviour through the application of its creed and to assist youth to attain the highest level of achievement both personally and academically.
Regional Chairman’s Golf Tournament
The Board approved the purchase of a foursome at the Regional Chairman’s Charity Golf Tournament to be held on September 29, 2017. Proceeds raised from this event help fund important programs and initiatives from the United Way of Toronto and York Region, CHATS and Community Living.
MADD York Region Golf Tournament
The Board approved sponsorship of the Annual MADD York Region Golf Tournament to be held on August 18, 2017. Mothers Against Drunk Driving is a charitable grassroots organization that is committed to stopping impaired driving.
Wounded Warriors Canada
The Board approved sponsorship of the York Regional Police Cycling Team to participate in the Wounded Warriors Highway of Heroes Bike Ride taking place August 19th and 20th, 2017. This event raises funds and mental health awareness for ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans and First Responders.
Association of Black Law Enforcers (A.B.L.E.)
The Board approved the sponsorship of the 25th Anniversary Scholarship Awards Gala that will be held on October 28, 2017. ABLE is an association of law enforcement professionals whose goals are to promote racial harmony and cultural pride within law enforcement and to provide scholarships to students of different racial and cultural backgrounds
