Ms. Bang-Gu Jiang was appointed as a Member of the Regional Municipality of York Police Services Board at its meeting on June 26, 2013. The Lieutenant Governor of Ontario appointed Ms. Jiang to the Police Services Board for a two-year term effective June 20, 2013. Ms Jiang was recently re-appointed for a further three-year term until December 2018.
Ms. Bang-Gu Jiang obtained her first law degree in China and taught law in a university in Beijing. In 1989, she immigrated to Canada. She was admitted to Osgoode Hall Law School in 2000 and graduated in 2003 with a J.D. degree. Following her completion of the articles in the Law Division of Ontario Power Generation, she was called to the bar in July 2004. In December 2004, she started her own law practice. Her law firm provides legal services in the areas of corporate/commercial and real estate law.
In addition to having become an experienced and established solicitor, Ms. Bang-Gu Jiang has consistently been an active community advocate, holding various positions such as the current President of the Canada-China Realty Professional Association and the current Vice President of the Chinese Professionals Association of Canada. She spearheaded the Chinese-Canadian community earthquake relief efforts back in 2008. She is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. In addition, she won the Chinese Business Excellence Award - Social and Community Influence in January 2013.Back to Board Members
