Regional Councillor Danny Wheeler, Chairman
Chairman Danny Wheeler entered political life in 1982. During the past 25 years, he has served both as Ward and Regional Councillor. Elected to eight consecutive terms as Regional Councillor, he also has the distinction of being the Town's Deputy Mayor. Regional Council appointed Regional Councillor Danny Wheeler to the Police Services Board in 2002, and again in 2003 and in 2006. Board Members elected him as Chairman for the fourth time on January 27, 2010. In addition to representing the citizens of Georgina at Regional Council, Regional Councillor Wheeler has many other responsibilities. He currently serves as a Member of the Solid Waste Management Committee, the Transit Committee, the Planning and Economic Development Committee, the Accessibility Advisory Committee, and the Durham/York Residual Waste Group. Some of his past community experience includes participation as a founding member of the York Region District Health Council, President of the Georgina Association for Community Living, Director of the Organization of Small Urban Municipalities, and Executive Member of the Kinsmen Club of Sutton. |
