Mr. Perchal was appointed by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario for a three-year term commencing March 7, 2020.
Walter Perchal served as a Senior Officer in the Canadian Forces for many years. During the course of his service, he completed a broad range of duties. Among these he was Commanding Officer of The Royal Regiment of Canada, was subsequently appointed as Special Advisor to the Canadian Army Commander, and, also served as a Senior Military Advisor to a NATO Ally overseas.
Currently, he teaches a range of courses at York University where he was a founding faculty member of the Graduate Program in Disaster and Emergency Management. Presently, he is the Director of the Centre of Excellence in Security, Resilience, and, Intelligence at the Schulich School of Business. His areas of expertise include: International Security, Complex Crisis Management, Public Safety, Terrorism and CBRN threats.
Additionally, he is engaged in an international consultancy and leading-edge technology companies. Finally, he is also actively engaged in various community-based activities.
