Soon to achieve 40 years in policing, Chief Jolliffe has received numerous distinctions including the Officer of the Order of Merit for Police Forces, Police Exemplary Service Medal and 30 Year Bar, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
- Deputy Chief André Crawford is being re-appointed to the position of Deputy Chief for a two-year term ending November 6, 2020. Since his appointment in 2013, Deputy Chief Crawford has been overseeing the Administration Branch of York Regional Police which includes Financial Services, Information Technology and Community Services.
- Deputy Crawford is the recipient of the Police Exemplary Service Medal and Bar, the Chief of Police Award, and the Human Rights and Race Relations Centre Gold Medal Award.
- To support the growing safety and security needs of York Region citizens and to address the increasing complexities of the police operating environment, the Police Services Board has approved the addition of a third Deputy Chief of Police. Recruitment for this position will begin immediately.
“Like many communities across Ontario, York Regional Police is anticipating significant changes to policing over the coming years. These contract extensions and the addition of a Deputy Chief will position our police service to deal with these changes and to continue to provide safe communities for our citizens” said York Regional Police Services Board Chair and Mayor of East Gwillimbury Virginia Hackson. “We look forward to the continued leadership of the Executive Command Team.”
“The health, safety and well-being of York Region residents are key priorities for York Regional Council,” said York Region Chairman and CEO Wayne Emmerson. “Our communities remain some of the safest neighbourhoods in Canada, and we have York Regional Police to thank for that.”
