Strategy for a Safer Ontario – Board Proposal

The Board confirmed its submission to the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services regarding the Strategy for a Safer Ontario.  The Strategy is the blueprint for a new policing services mandate which will include sweeping changes to the Police Services Act and its regulations.

The Board’s position includes areas that have been long-standing issues of advocacy and concern including labour matters that have been significant drivers in the escalation of the costs of police services. The Board’s submission includes proposals that will enhance community safety, improve the public’s trust in the police, continue to build bridges with our many communities, strengthen civilian governance and bring policing in Ontario into the 21st century in a manner that is sustainable and makes financial sense to the property taxpayer.

Submission to Minister Naqvi
